A short walk from Herdwicks will take you to the Ski Bar on the edge of the lagoon, a family-owned bar serving food and hosting music, quiz and special menu nights.
Riva Gelato is also a short walk down to the caravan site serving a fantastic range of freshly made cakes, freshly ground coffees and their very popular huge range of flavours of homemade gelato.
The local village of Haverigg can be reached by following the lane through the nearby holiday lodge park and on offer are a few local pubs, post office and a great corner shop where you can get all your groceries, newspapers, off-license. Haverigg chippy is recommended situated along the main street in the village from the corner shop.
A little further through the village is Brookfield farm potatoes, don’t let the name confuse you, they have an honesty shop wooden lodge at the front of the farm. An amazing place well worth visiting offering fresh produce, dairy, meats, bakery items and produce from the local area.
If it’s a cooked breakfast you’re looking for and don’t want to use the well-equipped kitchen at Herdwicks then the Beach Cafe in Haverigg. Follow the lane through the holiday park to the little roundabout opposite the harbour pub and turn left. If you are a rugby fan then the local rugby club and bar, serving food is along the lane from the beach cafe near the coast guard station.
